Following window presents all possible categories and settings that users can assign to the product. Next segment of the product setup will examine each section in details.
In this section customers can add or edit product's UPC (Universal Product Code), Category, Substitute group, and Description. These field are fully customizable.
Meanwhile 'Barcode' field has a drop down menu that lists different barcode types that are available in P4W system.
Notice: EAN13, UPCA, and ITF14 barcodes require specific format and will produce a system error if the data is not presented correctly.
Finally, product SKU is generated during the initial product creation and cannot be edited.
To save changes click 'Update' button. Changes do not save automatically.
Subsequent options will help to employ control measurements while receiving, storing, handling, and picking products in the warehouse.
Notice: some of the attributes are mutually exclusive. For example, serial controlled goods cannot have expiry date. Similarly, packsize controlled goods cannot be have decimal control.
If the product consist of multiple parts and requires further assembly select 'Bill of material' check box. To add materials click on 'Add' button as shown below.
Choose the required components and quantity.
When the bill of material is complete click 'Update' button on the top right corner of the product page.
Notice: Every product with bill of material can be assigned to a 'BOM workflow'. For more information please see Workflow section.
A 'lot' is a specific batch of an item that was received, is currently stored, or was shipped from your warehouse. Every lot is assigned with a unique number to facilitate racking. Lot control is a crucial feature in case of a product recall. It will save both time and money for the user.
To add lot control to a product select ' Lot controlled' check box.
When assigning a 'Lot controlled' feature to the product P4W system lets user to create a lot pattern to ensure proper product storing and tracking.
Example of Lot Pattern: if Lot number is BB-21xxxx, with the x being the month and day of the production Lot. The Lot Pattern would be BB-21____ (4 underscores) with the pattern in place the lot entered must always follow this rule.
A serial number is a unique identifier assigned incrementally or sequentially to an item, to uniquely identify it. Serial numbers need not be strictly numerical. Usually serial numbers are used for electronic goods (e.g., laptop, smartphone, vacuum, etc.) and, unlike Lot number, can only represent one specific item.
To assign serial numbers to your products select 'Serial controlled' check box.
Users can setup up serial pattern using the same logic as with the lot control.
Serial numbers are especially useful to keep track of correct goods when dealing with RMA.
Expiry date is the amount of time the product can be stored in the warehouse before it becomes deteriorated, expired, or unusable, under normal and predicted circumstances.
To assign expiry date to you product select the check box from the 'Attribute' table.
Notice: Expiry controlled products will prompt a request to enter expire date with warehouse operation concerning this product (e.g., moving, picking, receiving, etc.)
If the product is measured by weight, P4W offers decimal control function. Select 'Decimal controlled' and pick your desirable unit of measure from the dropdown menu.
Available units of measurement include: Kg, Gr, Lb, Oz, L, Ml, M, Cm, Mm, In, and Ft.
P4W system allows to create unlimited packsizes per product products. Custom packsizes can very from a small size (pack) all the way to the pallet size for overstock storage. Utilizing this tool will help users to streamline the process of receiving and picking goods.
To create new packsizes for your product select 'Packsize controlled' check box and click 'Add' button as shown below.
In the new packsize window fill as much information as possible. Notice that fields 'Name' and 'Eaches' are mandatory fields.
To finish creating new packsize click 'Submit' button in the bottom right corner.
Notice: It is a good practice to have each packsize identified by a unique barcode. This will eliminate unnecessary actions while receiving, moving, and picking goods in large quantities.
Here is an example of multiple packsizes (with unique barcodes) set for one product.
To add image to your product in P4W system click on the 'Upload image...' link and choose desired file from your local computer folder.
In the following window users can set various dimensions for their products. Use dropdown menu for 'Spacial UoM' and 'Weight UoM' to set preferred measurement units. Fill as many fields as possible.
Notice: If length, width, and height are filled then cube meter is generated automatically and cannot be edited directly by user.
Here users can set up minimum and maximum quantity of specific product for every warehouse in P4W system. If the product quantity is out of set bounds P4W analytics will mark it as inventory discrepancy.
Click 'Update' to save changes.
Any shipment over 150 lbs. is considered freight. Freight shipping is the transportation of goods, commodities and cargo in bulk by ship, aircraft, truck or intermodal via train and road. It is important to provide value and description of every item to be shipped.
In the 'Freight details' section users can setup their products with NMFC code (National Motor Freight Classification), choose a Freight class from the dropdown menu (this will represent the value of the goods), indicate HTS code (Harmonized Tariff Schedule), etc.
Click 'Update' to save changes.
These are the custom fields that users can populate with additional product descriptions of their choice.
Click 'Update' to save changes.
To discontinue existing product navigate to the bottom right corner and click 'Discontinue' button
Warning: Discontinued product are not available for picking.
